Sportsbook Software & Integration

The platform quote is the small half of a sportsbook budget. Odds data, trading and the betting licence are the other half — and they are the ones that decide whether you survive year one.

overview

What is sportsbook software?

Sportsbook software is the betting engine: odds ingestion, bet placement, risk and liability management, cash-out, settlement and the player account behind it. You can rent it white label, buy it turnkey, or build on top of a data feed — and the three models differ by an order of magnitude in cost and control.

The line item operators consistently miss is data. Odds and results feeds are priced separately from the platform and are a permanent, significant cost: basic API packages start in the low hundreds of dollars a month, full in-play coverage across many sports runs into thousands, and tier-1 providers quote privately against your volume. Trading services — if you are not running your own book — are separate again.

And a sportsbook is licensed differently from a casino. Some regimes issue a single permit covering both; others licence betting separately, cap the markets you may offer, or require local settlement. Which platform you buy should follow from which licence you can hold, not the other way round.

Data is a permanent cost. Odds and results feeds are priced apart from the platform and scale with sports coverage and in-play depth. Budget them as a line, not a footnote.
Risk management is a skill. Renting a platform does not rent you a trading team. Either buy managed trading or hire it — an unmanaged book is how sportsbooks lose money in a good month.
Betting licences differ from casino. Product scope, market restrictions and tax treatment vary by regime. Confirm the permit covers sports before you sign a platform contract.
Payments behave differently. Betting carries its own chargeback and fraud profile; PSPs price it separately from casino, and some will bank one and not the other.

your options

Buy, rent or build a sportsbook?

01White-label sportsbook

Setup at the low end — market quotes run from about $5,000 to $50,000 — with the provider's licence and rails behind it and a revenue share on top. Fastest way to test a market, same ownership trade-offs as a white-label casino.

02Turnkey sportsbook on your licence

One-time setup of roughly $30,000–$150,000, a $5,000–$25,000 monthly platform fee and 10–20% of NGR, on a betting licence you hold. Realistic first-year all-in of $120,000–$400,000 once data, trading and licensing are counted.

03Platform plus your own trading

Licence the engine, take raw data feeds and run your own book. Best margins, highest operational risk, and only viable with genuine trading capability in house.

step by step

How to launch a sportsbook

  1. Scope the book Sports, markets, in-play depth and whether you trade yourself. This decides the licence, the data bill and the platform tier — in that order. Day 1
  2. Betting licence & company We confirm which regimes cover your sports and markets, incorporate the entity and file the application with the full evidence pack. Week 1–10
  3. Payments for betting Merchant accounts and PSPs that price betting specifically, with reserve terms negotiated against your volumes. Week 4–12
  4. Contracts & launch Platform, data and trading agreements reviewed against your licence conditions. You go live licensed, banked and covered. From month 2

Platform and data figures are 2026 market ranges from published operator guides — tier-1 data providers quote privately against your volume and do not publish rates. Licence figures are regulator schedules and mirror our jurisdiction pages. The honest planning number for a turnkey sportsbook's first year is $120,000–$400,000 all-in, and data plus trading is usually the largest recurring block after the revenue share.

Sportsbook software FAQ

How much does sportsbook software cost?

Turnkey platforms quote roughly $30,000–$150,000 one-time setup, $5,000–$25,000 a month, and 10–20% of NGR. White-label setup is lower — around $5,000–$50,000 — with the trade-off that you sit on the provider's licence. A realistic first-year all-in for a turnkey book, once data, trading and licensing are included, is $120,000–$400,000.

How much do odds and data feeds cost?

They are priced separately from the platform and scale with coverage. Basic odds APIs start in the low hundreds of dollars a month; full packages with in-play across many sports run to several thousand. The tier-1 data houses do not publish rates at all — they quote against your volume, which means you cannot budget a sportsbook properly until you have talked to them.

What licence do I need for a sportsbook?

One that explicitly covers sports betting — not every gaming permit does, and several regimes restrict which events and bet types you may offer. Anjouan and Curaçao cover betting under a single offshore permit; regulated markets licence betting on their own terms. See the sports betting licence page for the route comparison.

What is sportsbook integration?

Connecting the betting engine to everything around it — odds and results feeds, your player-account and wallet system, payment rails, KYC and geolocation, and your reporting stack. On a turnkey platform most of it ships pre-wired; the work that remains is the data contracts, the payment rails and the compliance plumbing, and that is the part that gates launch.

Do I need my own trading team?

Only if you buy the platform without managed trading. Renting the software does not rent you risk management, and an unmanaged book can lose money in a month where handle looks healthy. Either contract managed trading with the platform or hire the desk — budget for one of the two before launch, not after the first bad weekend.

Can I run a sportsbook and casino on one licence?

In most offshore regimes yes — Curaçao's LOK framework, for example, covers casino, betting, poker and lotteries under one permit. Regulated markets more often split them into separate product licences with separate fees and separate tax treatment. We confirm the scope against your product list before you commit to a platform.
